Kate McNair puts the Ten Questions in the Kansas City History Bus Tour operated by Johnson County Library in Merriam, Kansas, where she works as a teen services coordinating librarin. The Bus Tour takes people to several landmarks in Kansas City that echo stories of segregation, desegregation, and re-segregation. Motivated by Tanner Colby’s Some Of My Best Friends Are Black, the Bus Tour teaches participants how racial issues have shaped not only the city’s physical landscape but also the social and political structure of the society (see their tour landmarks here).

Also, please check the Race Project - KC, the Bus Tour’s umbrella project, aime at facilitating dialogue on education and equality in partnership with local educators.  Kate will also use the Ten Questions for the library’s teen advisory groups in March and April in 2017. More stories will be coming. Stay tuned!
